Information on the Achnamara Community Trust’s proposal to acquire the Achnamara Slip.
Achnamara Slip – Ballot Count
Argyll and Bute Council Election Team have now counted the ballots submitted as part of the Achnamara Community Trust SCIO proposals to purchase the land at the Slip in Achnamara.The ballot closed at 5pm on Thursday 1 October. The ballot count was undertaken by the Returning Officer at Argyll and Bute Council in the Council offices on Friday 2 October.
The ballot was a secret postal ballot and 105 ballot papers were issued in early September to those on the electoral roll for the relevant postal codes and eligible to vote in Local Government Elections.
The following question was asked in the ballot
Do you support the Achnamara Community Trust SCIO buying the Achnamara Slip for community use, under the provisions of Part 5 of the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2016
70 ballots were returned – a return rate of 66.7%.
56 voted FOR the proposal
14 voted AGAINST the proposal
These results have been sent to the Scottish Government.
Now we have the ballot results, the next steps are for the Achnamara Community Trust to submit their formal application to the Scottish Ministers to buy the land at the Slip.
